Protein skimmers

i was planning to get a PetSmart - Visi-Jet Protein Skimmer by Aquarium Systems

but wasnt sure if its a good skimmer to get. iv been searching around for a few lately not luck...

my budget is pretty low now...paying for college =/

just planning ahead cuz switching to a 30+ gallon tank if my 10 and 5 gallon becomes a totally success.

Protein Skimmer Impressions

Aquarium Systems Visi-Jet:

I don’t believe these skimmers are being made anymore, but I still see them available through a few mail-order catalogs and several eBay vendors. What can I say about this unit? They were made before the Seaclone and one could say that the Seaclone was a significant improvement over the Visi-Jet. Since I don’t have a high opinion of the Seaclone, I really think the Visi-Jet is a poor choice. I would not recommend this skimmer to anyone. It is amazing a company as large and reputable as Aquarium Systems has not been able to find a way to effectively mix air and water.

And the seaclone is a piece of garbage so if it is better than the visi-jet my guess would be that this is also garbage.

beter off not using one if you go with ether of those i heard they do just about the same so i think they both are junk

guess i'll be getting one of thos $200++ sump with a built in skimmers...or was it the refuge?
