I've heard nothing but bad stuff about the fission nano skimmers....I think there are even a couple of threads in here that talk about them as well.

its really not worth your time on a 10g tank. since you'll be required to do frequent water changes on a small tank with no live rock, those changes will remove the protein load far better than that skimmer will. thats not to say at all that a skimmer wouldn't remove anything, far from it. the simple fact is you'll spend more time "tuning" the skimmer bubble size and froth amount than you would just doubling your water changes. from what I read on other threads about this skimmer in particular, its also rather hard to tune. on the other hand, the remora is a great and easy to tune skimmer. but its expensive and serious overkill for 10g, especially if you are diligent on water changes (which I'd highly recommend being :)
