Hey everyone.

I was doing some research on my Puffer-fish, and I found out that tetrodotoxin AND Saxitoxin are present in pufferfish tissues.

Now I also read that captivity raised puffers don't produce that poison. Does anyone know if this is true?

Is there any danger if I were to pick up my puffer or for some reason squeeze it or something? (I have no intention to, but if he jumped the tank I might need to pick him up in a hurry).

i think your fine unless you eat him...the toxin is only in the internal organs of the fish from what i understand...and it has to be ingested to do you any harm

dont know if its true about captive raised ones...i've heard the same thing

youll be fine unless you eat them like said above, the puffers still have to toxin in captivity, even after going through the extreme classes to get certification to cook and serve puffer fish as a chef it is still common to have numbness, nausea, and many other problems when eating it, even death, i just odnt understand why people would pay a ton of money to eat a food that could easily make them sick and possibly kill them
