to avoid using buckets to put water back in the tank after a change, id like to use a simple water pump that can pump water from a 15G tub on the floor, up into the tank

I've tried with two old pumps that came with my juwel tanks but they can only pump water up into the tube to the height of my knee, then it gets stuck

does anyone know a more powerfull pump that can pump water to just under shoulder height?

Its possible that no aquarium filter can do this as thats not what its designed for ... perhaps i should look for a fountain pump?

Yeah there are tons of pumps that can do this. When looking for pumps, what you need to know is the max head of the pump. This describes the height that the pump will be able to get water too. Without knowing how tall you are, I would say that any pump with a head of 6-10 ft would be more than enough for you because most tanks aren't over 48" tall.

As for brand it doesn't matter really. I might stay away from the cheapest, and invest in a mid-ranged price pump.

As for an aquarium filter doing this, I doubt it unless it was a canister filter.

You can check out ebay for pumps. I've bought a few jebo pumps, which are knockoff's of a name brand pump for $20 that I've had good luck with.
