As far as heaters go, Hagen Tronic submersibles are great! Thus far I've had no complaints with them.

As far as wattage, I would break up 125 gallons into thirds and use 100 watts for each third (that's three seperate 100 watt heaters).  I don't personally subscribe to the massive one heater for the whole tank theory because you don't get an evey distibution of temperature that way, no matter what wattage heater you use.  Three smaller heaters spaced evenly around the tank with good flow around them will give you better temp distibution and stablility.

Some other people though, sometimes use sump systems with tanks that large, and will put the heater in the sump so that the water is warm when it is pumped back into the main tank.  This is the type of system I have at work, and it works pretty well. Warm water is evenly distributed to all tanks on the sump by powerheads.  Then you would only need whatever wattage required to heat the volume of water in your sump.
