Ive read alot about air pumps being useless, and alotta people not using them. I was wondering if this is true. If air pumps are just an aesthic feature to add bubbles to make ur tank look better. I got a spare pump in my basement, so i got curious jsut lookin at it and thinking there are soo many air pumps out there, they must serve a purpose, right?

no way!everything has a purpose, some ya gotta look for that's all.air pumps can be good for agitating the surface so that the water holds more oxygen.you can use an air pump for hatching brine shrimp.or powering an old school internal box filter.plus whatever your imagination think of on your next d.i.y. project.air pumps are part of the old way of filtration but despite what you may read here many of the old technologys that used air pumps still work fine it just takes more effort than with new modern filters and whatnot.so keep that air pump

I use air pumps to provide fresh air to my wet/dry filter and to freshen up the air under tight fitting hoods. It is true we don't use them as we once did . . . but they still have there uses.
