Last night at waterchange time, I was treated to a lovely little spray jet right next to the computer and in the middle of my carpeted living room. I had just finished telling teen daughter why she could never ever ever store the mop bucket on top of my Python!!!!   I marked the tiny little hole with a Sharpie marker and am mulling over the best way to repair it. Of course, I could go get compression fittings and splice it, but I am actually hoping some kind of tape around the area will be good. But I'd want it to be something that would hold for a good long time. Has anyone here ever had to repair a leaking Python or similar tubing before? I'd sure appreciate any input. Thanks. :)

You can buy a male-to-male nylon hose barb at your LHS. They are in the tubing secton. Cut the hose at the hole and then rejoin the two pieces back together.

Duct Tape should work for a while. Since it's fairly low pressure and all. It would work in a pinch, but for the long run me thinks you would do well with the barbed fittings like fishtrap sugested.

I might just be me, or the fact that I grew up in Maine, but I think duct tape will hold it just fine. :) No point in buying the fitting unless the area where the hole is goes in the water. As long as you don't buy the cheap stuff, duct tape can hold a house together.

Anyone ever watch the Red Green Show? :)

actually duct tape is only a temporary fix, Water will find its way through everything, um just look at the grand canyon. LOL, and i know this for a fact cause i went through the same thing a month ago or so, and my python is covered in duct tape, and still leaking when the pressure builds up. Thanks for the info on the fittings ill have to go to home depot and get them myself.

BTW... These same hose barbs allow you to add length to your python, (this is starting to sound like a Cialis ad:p) if so desired. Buy two hose barbs and some clear vinyl tubing -found in the same section at the lhs and bought by the foot. Cut the python hose and splice in the additional new hose.

ALL remeber though if your hose stays rigid for more than 4 hours please consult your physician. HAHAHA

good because my 75 gallon tank is gonna go in the living room. and i have no access to a sink close to there so i need to extend my hose (no pun intended) another 15 feet or so. BTW Ladies Give me call after i do that haha
