Hi, I just recently bought one of the "No Spill Shipon"
but I have one question I need to make certain... how do I add chemicals?????????
The Instruction said to add during the stream....... but it's pretty hard to do..... Should I just fill the water and then add it directly in to the tank?

thanks,,please help

I love that Python!!

I got mine on-line at Big Al's (a 50ft model) for under $35 and it is a dream. However, mine leaks a bit at the main valve when I close the handle valve befor I fill the tank. :(

Anyway . . . to your question. I add my chemicals to the stream as it says. Just be sure to have them handy before you start to fill. While holding the end of the hose add the proper amount - either pre-measured or just guess the amount.

What do you think of this thing besides the minor difficulty in adding the chems?

don't worry about adding chem.at first when i started a my lfs they told me to use a python and just fill the tank and add some de-chlor. i haven't seen any problems yet.there are two thing you may want to consider though.if the local water is real high in chlorine or chloramine try adding the water slowly.at the same time if you add the water real fast it will help to agitate the water and that will help to drive off chlorine.lastly is you add the water too slowly it will make lots of micro bubbles in the tank and thats not good(i don't know why though)

and 1 last question if you don't mind me asking.... I am trying to cycle my 29g tank,,,,,, Is it ok to cycle with 10 oscars??? they are about an inch in size.. I usually cycle it with 3,,but my sister accident put 10 in there..........and it's a pain in the butt to take them out

ok i'll anwser this bluntly "hell no you can't cycle with 10 oscars"
i suppose you could but i don't think it will be very good for the oscars,it will probably stunt their growth.in a 29 thats approx.1 fish for three gallons.why don't you try bio-spira it offers a quick cycle and it realy seems to work unlike other bacteria in a bottle.

I would have to agree. 10 Oscars is a bit much for a 29 gallon tank. The amonia levels would peak to harmful levels very quickly and much faster than the bacteria could establich and compensate. You would risk loosing most or all of the Oscars.

As for taking them out . . . you will have to do it sooner or later (probably sooner than you think) My opinion is that it would be much easier to catch them now than later when they are bigger. Eventually 1 Oscar would be crowded in a 29 too.

Use cheaper and smaller fish like small tetras, platys or corys to cycle if you cycle with fish.

OK, now I feel like a fool. I've been using the Python for a while and when filling the tank back up, I was putting the water in a 5g bucket, adding the chems, then pouring it into the tank (a 39g), down the sides, messing up the decor. I hate changing water. I always wondered how you guys do it in a 155g tank. Now it all makes sense. Thanks for the enlightenment. My fish, my wife (who hates the mess on the carpet? and I thank you all VERY much.

Got to love that Python! If I could - I would change a couple of things to it, or have as ooptional accessories:

* a brass valve
That plastic valve does leak - glad I'm not the only one. I realize that plastic is less expensive than metal - so make it an accessory, like the brass faucet adapter. (have 1 of those - it's perfect!)

* a smaller tube
I have been trying to rig a smaller tube to my Python so I could get closer to the corners and around some of the rocks - but haven't gotten anything to work as well as I would like. I've tried a hose adapter - but it had to adjust down too much and that caused it to lose the suctioning power. If anyone else has come up with a remedy to this corner issue - spread the knowledge!
