Ok let me say I have no clue about fish tanks, i've always wanted one and am currently watching the paper to purchase one. I want nothing smaller than a 55 gallon aquarium. *thumbsupsmiley* What should I make sure the tank comes with? like for instance if someone says 55 gallon tank with access. what access. should I look for? Is $100 a fair price for a 55 gallon tank by itself without a stand and access or what? I'm watching the $100 dollar and under section in the paper for me a tank. I'm located in Mississippi on the coast. Last but not least if I go to a fish shop how much is the regular going price on a 55 gallon tank? please feel free to throw any additional info at me that you want, thanks.  *celebratesmiley*

Re: Q about 55gallon watching paper right now for

Well I'm here in longmont colorado and the local pet's smart here has 55's going for 100$ with no stand and for 150 from walmart u get everything u need but still no stand, just keep looking and you will find good deals. I for one found 2 great deals in a local paper called Thrifty Nickel
I first found back in april a 55g tank for 250 but it had everything including a sweet stand and wet dry system so i found it very worthy of the price, I then found 3 months later after i really got the fish bug a 125 and i talked him down to 300$ with a nice stand and a wet dry and a bunch of saltwater stuff that i sold already, so keep looking !! you will find gold soon im sure, I have since been back to the first guy like 4 times buying 10g 20g and misc stuff and last nite i bought his last 2 55's with a double metal stand for 40$
good luck to ya !!

Re: Q about 55gallon watching paper right now for

Access=stand, canopy, decent filter, and HEATER(s)

Up here in Ontario Canada...55g with flourescent light and canopy, and stand with doors $300...($200 USD).....that's from Walmart. Much as I hate to give them business in the fish dept...I can't pass that up.

Just keep in mind that the tank itself will be about $1/gallon...all the other stuff is a bonus. You need a stand an canopy and filter and heater though. If gooing USED with access, that's what I would look for.
