Since no one has posted on my first thread I geuss I'll just start another. I was wondering what were some other possiblilities along with the two false perculas I plan on getting. I have heard the pistol shrimp/watchman or randalli goby is cool to watch? I also like and have heard the long nosed hawkfish is a cool little fish to watch. I would like get a skunk cleaner or cleaner shrimp, I have also heard that if you get two, a group is fun to watch? If any one has any ideas for another fish or inverts then please reply! My current setup is a eclispe filter w/o media and a mini-jet 404 pwrhead at a little over 100gph. I also believe the filter is over 100gph. Wondering if i should get another mini-jet for the middle right side of my tank or should i get the smallest Zoo med pwr sweep for the right side also? My tank is a 20 tall so i was wondering if i have the minijet on the left side near the bottom and my filter outtake(?) on the surface pointing from left to right if i needed a mid level pwrhead on the left side. Please reply, any comments welcomed and greatly appreciated?
Thanks
(My tank can be viewed in my "Starting 20 gallon(few quick qeustions)" thread

i wouldn't get a power sweep. they clog and break easily in saltwater. a couple of powerheads at different heights in the tank would be good so you don't have any dead spaces.

a pistol shrimp/goby combo is awesome to watch, providing you have the right type of substrate for them to burrow/live in. 3" to 4" of sand is good.

if you're going to get any invertebrates, you're going to have to stay away from hawkfish as they really love to snack on them. if you aren't going to get a hawkfish, then yes a few cleaner shrimp are good to have. i've always had them with my fish. just a safe guard against disease. and they clean up extra food lying around very nicely.

HTH,
Tim

Which do you all like, the true ocellaris or the false percula clownfish, take into mind size because I plan on getting two at the same time and hopefully from the same tank in the store so they will alreay have established a pecking order.

ok, well how does the stock list sound with the
-2 ocellaris clown fish
-Watchman goby(not banded, but yellow or the blue dot)
-green/black/reg brittle star
-pistol shrimp
-1-2 cleaner shrimp(skunk cleaner)
-3/4 of a normal cleaner crew for a 20 gallon
Do the shrimps and the fish eat algae(along with food) and if they do should I get like a 1/2 or 3/4 of a reg cleaner crew for a twenty or do I I just get the normal amount. I was thinking of blue or scarlet hermits(not many because they eat each other, but I will get extra shells), margarita, cerith, trochus, and bumblee snails(whatever my lfs has out of those). How many should I get. LIke 2-5 hermits and 4-8 snails. I already have on 1" snail in my tank that I got from my live rock. I'll take a pic when he shows up again and see if you all could Identify him for me.From your personal experience, which is an all around better/cooler/hardier fish to have. A royal gramma basselet or a goby/pistol shrimp? Please reply about stocking list,
Thanks, henry

Really, over the goby/pistol shrimp. Im not sure becuase since my tank is a tall I dont have much floor space but I added all my sand to make the sand bed 1 1/2 -2". I think it was a 15 lbs bag of carib sea with lfs sand to seed it. Ok, well I really like the royal gramma and was gonna plan on getting it but then i heard about the goby/pistol shrimp and how cool it is to watch them. Are two cleaner shrimp ok with a brittle star and a pistol shrimp in terms of eating and finding food?
Thanks

you should go with the black brittle star. the green one will eat your fish.

the shrimp and brittle star should all be alright with eating and finding food. they brittle star and pistol shrimp are scavengers anyways.

i'd prefer a watchman goby over a royal gramma...especially if you're getting a pistol shrimp. but then again, this is your choice. either fish will do fine in your aquarium.

quick question

can i get a pistol shrimp as well as a cleaner shrimp---will they fight?
and i noticed on saltwaterfish.com -there are so many pistol shrimp---is there a particular one that better or hardier to keep or are they all the same? and what goby joins with the pistol shrimp--watchman yellow?

I think I might go with the Royal Gramma for two main reasons. I really want to keep other inverts in the tank and I read that pistol shrimp defend their territory agaisnt other fish and inverts very aggressivly and I read that this guy lost many hermits, crabs, and starfish to his pistol because all the shells and dead bodies where littered around the burrow of the pistol. The other reason for me going with the royal gramma is I have a taller tank which is not as well suited for a goby and a shrimp which burrow and I have more rock space for my Royal Gramma.
Beside the other inverts that I listed above, are their any cool crabs or shrimps that would be reef and invert safe. I like the peppermint and sexy shrimp, are they ok?
Thanks for all the help
