question about filtration

I have an xp3 filter and love it.

Right now I have floss in the top basket, ceramic rings and filters from established tanks in the 2nd, and some black foam that came with the filter.

I was wondering if the order of the filter media mattered. And I got peat moss to soften the water and wondered which basket I should put it in.

I have a planted tank, so no need for carbon, but if there's a good order or a better combination, let me know.

Well dont know i might be wrong too but here it goes. 1st their should be mechenical filtering then chemical and then biological. Mechanical means sponge then (carbon, peat moss, chem-zorb ) Finally before the floss there should be biological in your case it is the ceramic rings. I have the star things. I think thats it.
