Question about my fish

My tiger oscar chases my Jack Dempsey around the tank all the time. Even when there feeding, the oscar hoovers above him and gets first dibs on food. And constantly chases him away. Is this bad for the jack dempsey fish? I mean he always has to escape him, you think that the oscar will eventually kill him? or just playing with him? They are about the same size.

Make a place for you're jack dempsey in your tank and a place for the oscar so they can be seperated or geta bigger tank. As long as the JD is getting away it's probably good excercise for him. And someday o migt see it change and the JD will chase the O.

 

[Cichlid-Man]

There has to be a dominant fish in the tank. Sounds normal. They look about the same size so i don't think its a huge problem. Is the Jack still acting healthy? Looking healthy?

This is common in American Cichlid tanks. If u still wanna be sure provide territories at the farthest corners. Until the fish is active & has an apetite u r not in any trouble.
