I hope it's a big tank, they're large fish...

They can also be extremely aggressive (even with eachother) and usually will fight to the death. I've rarely seen multiple jaguar tanks because of the size required. The last tank I saw with multiples was at the LFS and it's since been converted to a south american setup.

It's also worth noting they're known for biting their owners fingers...

i raise and breed am staffs. im not really worried about my fingers around some fish. lol.

the jags im picking up are from a LFS and theyre in a big community tank. theyre very dosile because of the amount of fish they live with and they seem to school away from the rest of the fish.that whole tank seems to be over fed and calm, or maybe just too stressed to be agressive. there must be 60+ africans in this tank.

Overstocking DOES NOT work with large aggressive Central American cichlids, unless you're planning on overstocking about a 500gal tank. Seriously bad plan, you're going to end up with a whole bunch of dead jags and one left, maybe two if you luck out and get a pair.

How big is this tank going to be?

Yeah, "controlled overstocking" is really generally used with Africans.

Aggressive CAs are just too big and mean.

Overstocking is meant to spread aggression, so that no one fish is getting picked on all the time. The problem with using that practice with large aggressive CA is that one territory dispute can result in a dead fish.

awsome, this is the same thisng i heard, i just wasnt aware it was only for africans. i was told that if you have so many in the tank that they cant be territorial then they all tend to chill out. i met a guy with a 125 with almost 50 fish in it and he said they broke into groups and started schooling after a while, without any agression problems.
