Hey folks,

I have a 20lb co2 tank, and just yesterday I purchased the regulator.. it is a duel guage regulator with a 4000psi max for the tank and 20-80psi for the output.

this is my question,

I have no needle valve hooked up and I am assuming that this MAY be my problem.. ok, I turn it on, and I can get a very fine, slow bubble flow right down to a bubble a second, but after aprox 30-60 seconds the flow rate will slow slow and slow right down to nothing until I open the regulator up another notch and same thing happens and I do it again and again.

Then, when I go to shut it off at night I will turn the shut off valve on my actual tank off, and it will bubble and then after about 2 minutes it will go nuts bubbling like crazy?

Has anyone had this problem before?

ANy help would be apperciated.. I am guessing I need to get a needle valve and put it in line or on the regulator it's self and then open up the regulator to max and then adjust with the needle valve. :-/

i'll try to help.

i experienced the same problem. i was using a regulator w/o a needle valve. at first, it was working fine...a nice slow steady stream of bubbles.

one day i came home and it was on full blast! it was like a had a giant airstone bubbling in my tank. luckily, i didn't have much in the tank..all the shrimps died...and the ottocats i had were all on the bottom. i quickly took them out and placed them in another tank where they recovered.

after that situation, i bought a needle valve. didn't have much of a problem after that...just have to turn the regulator most of the way up and use the needle valve to control the flow.

the only problem i experience after that would be the tubing popping off from the pressure so make sure you get the right size tubing or somehow secure it tightly to the valves.

hope that helps!

Thanks bud,

I actually just got back from the pet store and bought one of those brass valves, hooked it up, did some adjusting and BOOYEAH! shes runing at a nice steady rate of around 2bps :) all it took was a 5 doller valve to do the job.

Speaking about the hose coming off LOL.. I gave the regulator a little to much pressure and BANG! the hose flew off and scared the ba-jesus outta me

THanks for your input :)
