Quick Zebra Danio Question

Do zebra danios like a fast current? I just plugged in my third filter and they jsut started being really active and swimming against the extra current. So do they like a fast movement or not?

Yup the do. they are orginally from fast moving streams i believe. Mine LOVE swimming throught the bubbles from the bubble stonel.

hmm also how many could i stock in a 35 gallon tank?

They're not a big waste fish...they're not real territorial or aggressive...I'd say you could put as many in there as you feel like up to (or a little over) that 1 inch of fish/gallon rule. I had 5 in a 2 gallon for the longest time and they did great.

Maybe mix in some different kinds and see if they school together...one of my lps has some gorgeous long finned and leopard varieties that I'm thinkin about getting. I also hear that they're pretty easy to breed if you have the right circumstances for them...so maybe stick with 20 or so and see if you can get them to breed??

And yes, I would agree with leopardess. They seem like the type that would love a current.

I say good choice on the scissortails!!! I have some and I love them! They really are beautiful when they are good and healthy.

edit: btw, I also really want some leopard danios, but I can't find them anywhere. maybe someday

i dunno my tank is messed up...like 6 danios or more died while i was out...i dunno losing hope in this hobby...nothing is goin right

Dont give up But sometimes its good to take a break from stuff...

um i suspect 1 or maybe 2 deaths from the filter...others just vanished...none on the floor or in the filter... errr

they're likin that jet stream a little too much Yeah...they're jumpers...I've never had one just disappear.
