QuickCure question about Ick..

My tetras are starting to form a lil bit of ick on their fins....

I brough a bottle of QucikCUre as medication. According to the instructions, it states that carbon must be removed from the filtration system. I have a Whisper Power FIlter Economy in my 5.5 gal tank. Do i have 2 remove that filter catridge?? or can i just unplug it for a couple of days til Ick is gone???

If you unplug your cycling bacteria will probly die from lack of oxygenation. And to treat Ich it is always better to medicate for 14 days after raising the water temperature. You should search the forum first..

If possible , remove the carbon from your current filter, but keep the pad in the filter. If you cant do that, add a new filter with NO carbon, and wipe some of the "gunk" off onto the new pad from the old pad.

If the carbon has been in for more then a week, they you can just leave the pad in because after about a week, the carbon no longer has an effect. Even after your fish look like they are completely healed, continue using the medicine as directed because the parasite itself may still be in the water.
