Despite the ich in his tank, his death does not appear to be ich-related.
However, he had a vertical row of slightly-protruding scales on one side of his body. It appeared to be clearing up a bit after having added the salt treatment for the ich in the tank, but it seems as though he kicked the bucket regardless.
I attribute his death partially to the 'protruding scales,' but mostly to stress as a result of being harassed by the other male.
As I said in another thread, I swear I'm not murdering my fish...really!
