Ram ph?

I was doing a bit of research on rams, and It said that they need a fairly low ph, can they tollerate higher ph's?
(6.5- low ph) (8.0 higher ph)?

mine do fine in a ph of 7.8 and very hard water.matter of fact my ram is one of the best i have ever seen.he's pretty big

rams (blue rams) are one of the few fish that i have found to be "not so" hardy.

no matter how many water changes i performed and no matter how pristine the tank was i could not keep these guys alive in hard water.

just my opinion, YMMV

i would put dicsus above these guys as far as hardiness goes.....easily.

it's a matter of breeder that makes the ram.most rams that go to market should have been culls but the demand for this fish is so high that even the worst fish get shipped.the genetic stock of this fish is terrible.most rams you see for sale don't even resemble what makes them so poular.i got real lucky with my ram.i had two but one died from the stress of moving.no they aren't very hardy fish and i feel quite fortunate to have had mine for as long as i have

yes, his rams are all dying becoz of his p.h at 8.0. Rams need a p.h around 5.0 - 7.0

thanx for the info I was kind of thinking about getting them, but it sounds like my ph is too high.The petstore here has never carried them before ether.

My blue rams are fine in pH 7.4 although my water is very soft (KH=2). They were the added about 2 months after the tank has been cycled, so the tank was semi-mature already.
