I noticed today that my male ram looks like someone decked him in the mouth or that he's had a stroke. One side of his mouth/lips is kind of swollen. Any suggestions on what this could be and how to treat?

The other ram is a female. I looked it up and all I could come up with was that it might be a bacterial infection. I'm going to a good water change in the morning. I picked up some meds but will wait to use them till I'm more sure they will be helpful.

I got up this morning and noticed that the Female ram also has a swollen area just below her lips. Not an area I would think to be affected by jaw locking. The male's "bump" is red and swollen looking, the female's bump isn't red yet but is very noticeable.

Actually yes, the look like a big pimple, but no puss. I'm worried that both of them have it. I know that rams are sensitive to water conditions, and while after much testing, I can find nothing wrong with my water... I'll be doing a few water changes this week to see if it helps any. The bumps don't seem to bother the rams, they're eating fine and acting normal. But they just look so pitiful!

P.S. Ram Man I love the icon... what is it?

My ram had the same thing, never really bugged him. Ate fine and acted like the king of his tank.

You mean my avatar? It's a mantis shrimp species that I've always wanted.
