I have what i believe to be a very nice 30 gal planted tank that has been up for nearly 4 years now and have had not a single problem with disease until now. I have lost 3 fish in the last 2 days due to ich. I have been using the "Ick Clear" product, but it does not seem to be helping much - if at all. I have raised the water temp to 80-82, lowered the water level to increase the oxygen level and have been religious about a daily 25% water change before the next treatment goes in. Am I jumping the gun, or do I need to be doing something else?? Please help!

If you dont have any fish that are sensitive to salt...one treatment that people swear by is high heat and salt. I'm not entirely sure how much salt...but do some searching on here and find where someone else has asked the same question. You can turn the heat up even higher than that. The heat speeds up the life cycle of the ich so it will fall off the fish faster and then be killed by the salt and/or your meds when it isn't on the fish (which is the only time it can be killed).

Can I use the salt treatment in conjunction with the meds I am already using? I'm afraid that any overkill will do just that - wipe out everything.

the cories might be sensitive to salt...but I'm not sure. I'd say if your meds dont say anything about not using with salt, then you should be fine. Salt is usually less harmful to your fish than most other medications.
