Well a while back ago, rams cost $7.98 each or $14.98/pair. But when I checked on them today, the prices increased to $12.98 each or $24.98/pair.

I don't know what to do :(, I mean they look great in planted tanks. Should I go ahead and get them or should I get something esle? What other dwarf cichlids would look good in a 20 gallon planted?

Well, you could always go for kribs. I actually went to the fish store looking for rams too, but I somehow ended up getting these guys instead. Probably for the best. Their behavior is really neat. Its freaky watching 2 fish herd around their babies like that. They even rounded them up again after I moved them all into their own tank.

Kribs- They're like cheap not as pretty rams! :D

I saw a small golden colored ram(they called it a blue ram), at my LFS for $7.99. They are neat fish. You could probably just wait until they get some more of them in, and then they will probably lower the price again. That's what I think ya should do.

C-Man - I don't really like apistos much, they have too much coloring IMO which makes them look kinda dyed fish :\

I might end up either getting the rams or kribs :\

nahh, apistos arent that expensive, depending on the availability of them where you live. i think theyre usually about the same price as rams. much better looking and usually hardier. the cockatoo dwarf cichlid (apistogramma cacatuoides) is one of the cheapest (not to mention one of the best-looking) and one of the easiest apistos to breed.

MrMup- go look at some apistos online or somethin, and you might like them ;) theyre great

i got my rams for like 8 bucks each (i think)...2 german blue rams...the quality was terrible...they didnt make it :(. i'd like to try them again if i could buy them directly from the store instead of ordering them...so i could pick my favorites out of the bunch.

Hi,

new to this forum. :)
I have two local LFSs that sell blue rams. Petco sells them for around $5 a piece and usually they are very beautiful fish. Most of the time this Petco keeps their tanks nice and the fish are healthy looking.

Another family run pet store sells them for $14.99 a piece. Lucky for me I'm only about an hour away from a breeder who frequents aquabid and sometimes has gorgeous wild caught columbians for only $5 a piece
