well spent the weekend at the girlfriends. left Saturday morning and all my fish looked fine and healthy. got home tonight and my male mangano lab hybrid was dead. he had been eating fine and was the king of the tank. he took the throne from his daddy in the tank. he was a really thick and healthy cichlid. not sure what happened. he shows no signs of being picked on either. fins and tail in perfect shape and no scales missing. Just one of those odd things i guess.

Humans die suddenly at all ages for no detectable reason before hand. Only after they are dead do they learn why - usually. I'm sure this can happen with any living thing. We do the best we can with the information we have.

i agree thyra. just sucks to not know y lol. he was kinda pretty too. had the shape of the maingano, with the black stripes. but the black was narrower and instead of blue he was yellow with a blue tint. kinda like if u had a car with yellow paint that had blue metallic flake in it. obviously a care like that would probably be ugly but on this fish it worked. I still got 2 more young hybrids though. but they are not as pretty. one is kinda a powder blue with faint black lines, with a yellow ting. and the other is kind of a muddy yellow with a black belly and anal fin with a slight blue shimmer to the boddy and a pronounced blue shimmer on the gill plates.

My big red zebra is just like that. Orange with a blue metalic tint. I've never seen another red zebra this nice. I wonder if its a location variety thing?
