african cichlids are very territorial and aggressive. They need plenty of caves and rock formations...so everyone has their own little nook to call home. Africans are great fish and interesting to watch. They are also very colorful, some as bright as some saltwater fish. My favorites are the yellow lab and kennyi. The kennyis are blue with black stripes. The males turn yellow when mature. In a tank full sometimes only the dominate male will turn yellow , the rest keeping the female blue and black. If you get kennyis young it is exciting to watch transformation of males. One time two of my males got in a fight over a female and one of the males starting picking up gravel and spitting it at the other male.
