I was wondering...

90 Gallon tank, adequite filteration, fairly newly established, but animals, (fish, not reef) are doing well.
Filter Mag 350
+Biowheels
Powerhead + 1 powerhead prefilter

Lighting

40W 6700k
40W atinic
and decent protein skimmer and R/O water.

We get red algae growning on the glass, and red slime algae on the rocks in certain locations.

Acceptable, but... it seems to appear during the day, but disappear completelyby the late evening.
Is is due to daylight?. We live in a region where we get alot of grey skies during the winter months, and I cant say that the tank is exposed to direct outdoor light, but does take ambient light.

Could it be that sensitive to the light?
Is it possible that we are at the threshold of too much lighting, and normal daylight sends us over. But whu does it disappear so quickly?
I cant see us having too much light on this tank.
There is also a reef unit in the same room, that is running PowerC (coralife) 130ish W, and remains clear always.

Or are we looking for a chemical imbalance here?
Generally all water parameters are within acceptable levels.

Thots are appreciated,
Thanks

I would say you do not have too much light. I am new to saltwater and I am trying to learn about the different kinds of alge. You say it is red slime?

What fish do you have?
What kiind of skimmer are you running?
Does the algae actually disappear during the night or can you just not see it?
