Hi, I moved your post out here so that hopefully more people will see it and you can get more answers. :)

First off how big is the tank? Secondly you say you have a pair of GT's. Is this a breeding pair, or just two terrors that are around the same size?

The GT's alone need a pretty good sized tank. I would say that unless your tank is 150+ gallons then it's going to be a no on the red devil, and quite possibly the oscar as well.

Wow, I was thinking that you had at least a 75 gallon.

Going to be tough to keep the green terrors in such a tiny tank. Did the lady both to let you know how big these fellas get?

http://www.myfishtank.net/reviews/showproduct.php/product/127/sort/7/cat/5/page/2

Pretty sure that there are a few members on here who are currently keeping them. Hopefully they can chime in and give some better advice on the minimum tanks size. Off of the top of my head though I would say minimum you'll need a 75 gallon for these two, and at that they may not end up able to tolorate each other in the long run in such a small tank. How big are they now?

Yeah, you're gonna need a FRIGGIN GIANT TANK for the Red Devils! A local fish store have a tank (not for sale but for show) and it only have one Red Devil. Very HUGE! ...and cute. He had one tank mate, but he killed it... Did I mention that he was very cute? The guy that works there, he put his hand in the water and petted him and the fishy likes it. It was funny when the guy touched him on the nose several times and the fishy seem to blush... :p

A good rule of thumb for these fish is they need 8 times their body lengh for a territory. A pair of foot long Red Devils won't mix with much.

Well, yeah, you are, because of their adult size.

You've got to consider their adult size. Its different for alot of fishies. Bigger fishies need more room to swim, so you have to limit your amount of fishies that do get BIG. Its different for fishies that are smaller as adult. People can actually push or go over the limit on the overstock for smaller fishies, as long they are not stressed and the water condition are safe.

To be an example, you can only have one fish that reaches 29 inches for your 29 gallons tank, but do you really think the fish will be comfortable? No. The one inch per gallon rule does not apply to bigger fishies (the math would have to be redone differently). So, you got to consider their size and the relative tank size. Fish need room to swim and to mark their locations.

Waiting for the convicts to chase them away . The tank has been up and running for 17 days should I be doing partial water changes to keep the Ammonis down , All Im using is a UGF and 1 powerhead ( 170 GPH ) Everybody seems happy .

That has been said for a long time, but it is not always true. There are fishies that will continue growing. If they do not grow to full potential, their growth will be stunted and this will affect their overall health.

Ummm, you would need a good Hang On Back filter for the tanky. I suggest Emperor, but it is a very big filter, so you may have to scoot the tank foward (maybe the stand too) a bit, or you can get a Pengiun or AquaClear filter. It is recommended to do a weekly water change of about 25%-40%, depending on your situation. As the tank become more established, you can gradually move onto every two weeks or monthly.

I've never owned any Green Terrors. I can say this, slow growers or not, you still have to consider their adult size when stocking your tank(s). Also, do not always rely on store employees to know full details about any fishies. You can always ask other people for more specific details and ask on here. You do not have to drive around everywhere. Just get a phone book and call each pet store (not a giant chain store like PetCo, PetsMart, WalMart), but small pet stores that specialize in fish and ask them questions over the phone. There are different methods to obtain knowledge about any fishies.

Oh, another thing, is that all the equipments you have? Do you have a heater to keep the water warm? Just because the fish look happy does not make them perfectly healthy. A happy fish can die suddenly. I know this from experiences.

You will need a better filter than just a UGF. For the most part they aren't the best anyway because when it is time to clean them you pretty much have to take apart the entire tank to get to the gunk. A larger HOB or smaller canister would do nice.

Sounds like your tank isn't cycled yet. Here are a few articles on starting new tanks : http://www.myfishtank.net/forum/fre...eshwater-beginner-stickies-read-me-first.html

You might well need to do more than one or two changes a week untill the tank gets cycled. After that it's normaly good practice to change at least 25% every week if not a little more.

The myth that fish will only grow to the size tank they are in is total hooey. Their body may stop growing, but their internal organs do not. This causes great stress for the fish and greatly reduces it's life span.

82 isn't really too hot,but you may want to turn it back to around 78. The warmer the water the high the fishes metabolism, and the more they are going to produce waste. Since your tank is still cycleing you want as little waste as possible so that you can keep tabs on the tank better. Also cooler temps tend to 'calm' fish down some and not make them as aggressive.
