I bought 2 angelfish today and didn't notice it at the LFS but one has red nearly half way around both eyes. Is this normal? You can kind of see it in my avatar to the left.

Most if not all the angels I have kept have had at least a little bit if red around the eyes. One of the freakiest ones I kept was a white pearlscale that had the red ring all the way around his eyes. He was very pretty though.

Red eyes usually mean that there is a recent wild cross in there withing a generation or two. It is a good thing and is quite beatiful. The wild stock cross brings new genes into the mix and will make for a more robust and stronger fish. This doesn't mean that they may not become ill at all, just that the gene pool is "fresher" than the fish that we normally see that are all domestically (over)bred.
