I have an oto whom has lived with me for a while, but suddenly began to develope a red head. On the underside of his head, it is red with too tiny bright red dots that look almost like punctures. I don't know what this is, so please help!! Here are some pictures.

I'm not sure what it is, but my otos get that every once in a while. It doesn't seem to affect them. I call it "oto acne." :p If he seems to be eating okay and he's active, then I don't think you should be too worried. That's just my two cents, though.

I have a red faced oto too. With BN pleco(albinos) the males have a red spot on the top of their head. Which means they are a male and that they can breed. I searched through google to see if it was the same but all I found was another forum. The person said that it just means its a healthy female. So I have no idea if this is true but I wouldn't be worried.
If your still worried check you chem and make sure they're fed. They're hardy little suckers.

Ok, so I don't need to treat it or anything? It seems as if he/she is not as active, or eating much. He/she is just sticking to the glass. I'm going to put some cucomber slices in there to see if he/she goes for that.
