refugium light

ive heared of you could use a simple light from home depot but witch one exactly? a guy told me he used a flood light for his refugium but there were so many diff types i didnt know wich to choose from. im using a 30g sump

I'm using one from hd. Just get a bulb that burns in the 6000 - 9000 kelvin range. I had to search for a little bit but they should have them. Then get a socket with reflector on it.

I tried that bulb but it only burnt out within a few days... They replaced it and then that one burnt out after a few days.

hmm i kno quite a few people using it with success.... i havnt tried it since i have plenty of pc's laying around that i could use for free, with 1X65w 24" 10k pc over my fuge im almost getting too much growth out of my chaeto... i say too much cause its annoying having to pull out massive clumps every few weeks but my nutrients are way down between the macro algae and massive skimmer im running so i cant complain too much

btw if i go a month without harvesting the chaeto it totally blocks up my fuge to the point water barley flows through that section of the sump result to the water basically just dripping down the overflow that leads to it
