Anybody have any experience with regent aqua-tech tanks. The 20 and 29 gallon tanks are about $50 to $150 cheaper than a Hagen with a heater, flourescent light and a power filter.

well i think its a pretty good filter, very quiet, but the downside is there is no biowheel, so the bacterial culture will form in the gravel, decor etc etc and everytime you change the filter, the cycle will regenerated but not as long as the first time. The tanks are fine, and everything in it is fine, the heater etc, its just the filter. I would recommenend using a marineland biowheel filter, it really good in creating bacterial culture because it has a biowheel. ok my two cents.

The tanks are fine. The filter lacks a lot. It may say "good for 20-40 gallons," but I hardly think so. They make great 10g tank filters. I would definitely upgrade. The biowheel option is great, but not necessary. If you are going to have a high fish load, then I would go for it. If not, I would suggest a Marineland HOT filter. Excellent for a 29 gallon (that's what I use on mine) and it's strong enough that you will not need a powerhead like you would need if you used the regent filter. The micron filter cartrige that it comes with is wonderful! BTW, the HOT pro system comes with a biowheel, along with a nifty gravel cleaner.

I bought the walmart 55G I did get a second 30-60 filter because the one sold for it IMO just wasnt enough alone. I would get one of the kits and just double up on filtration...still cheaper and a good system IMO. :D
