Are any of you familiar with the Regent Aquarium Kits available in Wal-Mart?

I was in there yesterday and I saw a Regent 55 gallon tank with tempered glass, wooden stand, and flourescent canopy all for $299.99 Canadian. I think that is around $199.99 U.S. This was a Regent product, but looked almost identical to the allglass aquariums that I see sold for much much more at another Fish Store.

Is this a good deal? I was seriously considering this because I wanted a big tank, and 55 gallon was just what I was looking for. The tank is 48" long, and about as wide as a 20 gallon, i'm guessing its about 26" tall.

What do you think? Is it worth the cash?

I have a 10 and 29. The tanks are All Glass, and the filters are Marineland. They are pretty good setups and affordable. Plus, you can always upgrade the filter if you need to.
It's most defiantely worth the money!

Hey sailfin,

I knew someone was bound to ask about the pic. That is a medical pircture taken of a human brain lying on an aircraft-carrier's tarmac.

A flight crew member was directing a helicopter in to land when he was struck in the head by a rotor. As a result the impact just kinda 'popped' the brain outta his skull and left his head a bag of skin. All the bone was pulverised on impact.

So the moral of this story is always watch what you're doing!

I got a 29 gal kit from wal-mart. I think it was a good deal. And so far I don't have any complaints. Though, I replaced the filter with a Penguin 330.

Before you get the kit from walmart. You might want to check ebay or some other auction website for what you are looking for. You could find what you are looking for a cheaper price.

If it includes everything you said in your first post, Personaly I would go for it. They sell them for the same price here, but just without the stand. The stand of course is another hundred bucks I belive. Like what has been said, you can always upgrade the filter and/or heater if nessesary.

I would always check localy for a used tank first though. A lot of times you can find a much better deal from someone just wanting to get rid of the thing. Ask around and check some newspapers, and for the best deals be patient, If you want it, It will come.
