I currently have the Rena XP3 canister filter running on my 75g tank. I notice that once in a while it sprays a lot of tiny bubbles out of the spray bar. Does this happen for anyone else? I am priming it correctly and it isn't make any loud noises, just running like it normally does. I guess the bubbles aren't too much of a problem, but it almost makes the water appear cloudy when the lights are on because there are so many floating around.

I have a xp3 also but that only happens to me when I prime the filter it should stop after a little bit after the air has left the filter.

If you have the intake to close to air pump outlet or next to a powerhead it could suck in the bubbles into the filter and get those.

I don't have a bubble wall, air pump, and my power head is on the other side of the tank. The only thing that really causes bubbles is my HOB (emperor 400) which is also on the other side of the tank. As for bleeding the air out, i did... or so I thought. It's pretty straight forward with the Rena. It's possible that I messed something up though.

I was just curious if this was regular behavior or not for it. Wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything that would harm the filter.

Mine does for a day or so after I have the top off if I didn't shake the filter once I got it back running to get most of any traped air out.

If you've done all this and are still getting air bubbles comeing out of the spray bar than it may be possible that it has a small leak or a fitting that isn't on good enough.
