Do they eat snails? any other common name for them?

hmmm...the only loach i could find with ring in its name was the Dahli Ring Loach. is this it?

Botia is a genus (family) of loaches, that includes the clown loach.

If its a dahli ring loach i have one, no it doesnt eat snails, is small and nice but if possible it will spend most its time with only its eyes sticking out of the substrate

Yep, looks like a dahli ring loach (Noemacheilus scaturigina).
