All the plants in my tank has rock wool in its pot, how does rock wool effect my tank? is it bad for th tank?

One of my LFS sells potted plants with rockwool. When I first started my planted tank I had no idea what that stuff was and left it around the plant in the tank. I was told by other members of this site to remove it and I did on subsequent additions. however I left what was already in my tank alone. My large anubias had rockwool around the rhizome and psuedo-roots, and I took it out a few months ago to inspect. the base of the plant was starting to rot and decay. I cut away ALL the rockwool and replanted (with the rhizome above the substrate). The plant looks tons better.
