I've always used gravel but I just set up a 10 w/ sand blasting sand and it looks really cool. It works well too because you can just hover the siphon over it to pick up the fish waste w/o the sand. I got the idea for sand blasting sand from someone on here who I have regretably forgot but I thank you for giving me the idea. I personally highly recommend it.
yeh sand is a great way to go if u dont need gravel stuff for plants or what not. Its cheap and looks alot more natural so i vote sand with a big thumb and 1/2 mutated thumbs up
oh yeh woops i forgot to mention when u get ur sand, put it in a bucket and run a hose in the bucket, pump water slowly in so all the tiny particles float out. Then u can wait for it to dry or not and put it in the tank, it will settle down alot faster and ull have less kick ups from the fish.
i do that with Gravel now. But thanx for reminding me. So...when i clean the tank sand won't get sucked up when i clean the bottem.......or not enough to notice?
no no u have to hover over the sand if u go all into it u will suck the same right up. Its a skill ull learn in time, took me liek 2-3 weeks to perfect but i got it. Just hover and the debris will fly right off cuz it cant penetrate below any other layers of sand
O yes cichlids all the way and if any of you know anything about Peacock Cichlids i'd be happy to get some info.....post it in my post which can be found.....under Cichlid Disscussion. Thanx
