...more non-oscars...

I had three very small (smaller than I was expecting!) Rotkeil severums shipped over about two weeks ago. They're pretty cute, but they can't go into their intended tank yet due to their size.

Its just a juvenile colouring, the barring fades as they mature - just like Green severum juvies. I have three of them growing up.

I've never heard of those guys before, what do they look like when the mature, you stated they loose there striping but do they gain new coloring?

I noticed as my Green Sevs started loosing there "Juvie Stripes" they started getting more deeper green w/ accent marks on there "Cheeks .

They were meant to go into my 75gal South American tank, but they're much too small to go in with the fish that are already in there. So I'll have to grow them up a fair amount before I can actually add them.

I was in a fish shop around here today that had some adults, great looking fish. I had never seen them before this thread.

They're not very common in the hobby yet, which is why I had to grab these three when the opportunity presented itself

Are these also referred to as "red-shouldered" severums, by any chance?
In the past when I was at Petland I saw some adults which looked awfully similar to that adult pic you posted. I think they were charging around $40-50, if I recall correctly.
