Okay, so my common pleco outgrew my tank and I had to pass him off to my girlfriend, who has a much larger tank. I was down a bit because I was really attached to "Bubba" but I found a rubbernose pleco at Petsmart. I used to feed my common pleco cukes and alage tabs, will a rubbernose eat the same things as a common pleco?

On another issue, I bought an Otto, which I have never owned before. I was reading in the forum that they tend to die rather easily, is there anything that I can do to improve this chances of survial? Thanks for the help.

The rubbernose will eat algae as well as meaty stuff like brineshrimp, bloodworms, sinking pellets, etc

Otos have been a very challenging species to keep alive in my experience. My advice is buy a few more than you want to actually have, and of course have a well established tank.

One of the tricks with otos is to get some that have been in the store for more than a week or two. The poor little things have a long, hard journey from South America, and often start keeling over soon after they arrive at the LFS.

Once the otos are acclimated and settled, they are a lot more hardy.
