I just noticed that the filter on my brichardi tank stopped working. Upon closer inspection they have been piling sand in front of the intake and jammed the entire filter. Folks you just don't get these headaches with neons...

haha, smart little fella's aren't they.

I've had my brichardi do this a few time, but my multies have been much more trouble with it. Best thing I've found is to raise the intake tube up a couple of inches.

If that isn't an option for you, try a sponge pre-filter. It will not stop all the sand, but will help.

I was thinking of raising it but they didn't have any interest in it so I left it where it was and only recently did they go on a mission to bury the thing. Originally I had a sponge filter on it but it didn't seem to work all that great and the fish seem to enjoy the current they get from the bio-wheel. The upside is that with their construction I did get to watch them they are hard workers when they want to cost me some money.
