I had to put my dwarf gourami for adoption today..... I went away for the weekend and came home yesterday afternoon and found my cardinal tetras fins all nipped. I knew the gourami is a little grumpy and always has been since I got him, but I never really thought he'd nip at the tetras. I've seen him go at it (and start fights) with my Krib, so today I had to let him go.
Even sadder news, a couple of my tetras now has ich, most likely from the stress of being chased and nipped at all night long. I've now changed 50% of the water and put the temp up to 80*. So far, none of the tetras look lethargic. They are swimming and eating fine, I just feel so sorry for the little guys!
Unfortunately, I don't have a QT tank, and I'm a bit reluctant to treat my 20g tank with ich meds considering I have other unaffected fish in it. I've looked into using salt, BUT I have otto cats and apparently they are very sensitive with salt.
Any other ideas?
PS:
I now have: 1 krib
4 otto cats
5 cardinal tetras
2 albino tetras (which are the exact same size and look of cardinal just without the coloration..... just had to emphasize coz I know someone asked me what those were before! )
