in this site it says that you should add salt to the tanks with africans. is this true because i havent read this no where here.

regular aquarium salt isn't going to do a thing and would be pointless to add.

Some of the 'Rift Lake salts' can add some trace elements and minerals to the water. I use a liquid to this effect, and while I don't know if it's helping anything or not it's not hurting.

The only other use of a 'salt' in a rift lake setup would be to help buffer the water, but this is done by using plain old epsom salt.
