salt water maintenance

i was wondering.... if freshwater tanks have algae eaters/snails to help with the algae/crud ..... does saltwater have the same? are there types of salt water fish that eat algae? or snails?  

im planning on having my first saltwater tank soon n i'd like to get as much info as i possibly can. thnx

Hmm, in our tank, algae is taken care of (usually) by turbosnails, they seem to love the stuff.

As far as other "crud", we have a live sand base w/ spaghetti worms which do very well at keeping everything very clean.  Maintanence, for us, has been minimal, thus far.  HTH.
