While I'm waiting for my FW tank to finish cycling - it's in the nitrite stage now - I was reading up on SW tanks.
Has anybody set up a FW system similar to the SW nano setups? In a nano they use a sand bed and live rock to handle the filtration. Would a sand bed, complete with bacteria and critters, achieve the same results? Using a quality lighting system, plenty of live plants, porous rocks, snails, shrimp, crabs, etc. Would a viable aqua-system environment be able to be established and maintained?
