ok, guys, I got a 30 gallon tank goin on, and ima take it down and replace the corny black/white gravel with sand. however, I am having trouble getting it rinsed. first, i put about 6 in. of playsand in a 5 gallon bucket, filled it with water to about 4" under the rim, stirred it up, and poured. i repeated this about 4-5 times. then, i stuck the hose in the bottom of the bucket, and let it over flow for about 5 min., stirring. however, whenever i fill it, water stays cloudy and i think i've llost about an inch of sand so far. Can anyone gimme some pointers? thanks in advance for any info.

I used playsand in my 29 gallon that is cycling right now. I filled a 5 gallon bucket with about 20lbs of sand (little less than half full). I stuck a garden hose in it on high and filled up the bucket while stirring with my hand. The water was cloudy and brown. I poured all the water out, repeated the process about 5 or 6 times, each time letting the water settle for a minute before I dumped it. By the last time the water was much clearer but not crystal since I only let it sit for a minute. I maybe lost 1 cup of sand with this process.

I filled up the tank with a garden hose on real low on a flat rock. It took about 45 minutes to fill up the tank, but it wasn't cloudy in the least.
