Sand Man Filters ?

I found an old Wardley The Sand Man Fluidized bed filter that is just like a power filter. It uses sand for bio filteration and i dont have the special sand so will any sand work? Also does anyone have this filter? And do they like it? I found this with all my old fish equipment so im not sure if its anygood so im not ready just to plop it in my tank and use it.

i think so.play sand will probably work fine. i have seen parts and such a petco a few times so you might want to see if they have anything that may help you

Well scrap that idea. I put it in just so i could clear up the water a bit and the impeller doesnt even move. I messed with it for quiet some time and i cant get it to move. I can hear the motor running but the impeller doesnt budge. Well i guess ill just run out and get another penguin mini.
