Sand substrate question :)

hello all,

i am looking for some advise. as some of you may know i was planning to convert my 10g 'fry' tank into a Brackish tank. well this plan has finally come into action and i have cleaned out the 10g and its ready for the changes i want to make. anyway today i went to 'swallows aquatics' an aquatics store near my home and i purchased some aquarium sand and a very large peice of Mopani wood. my question is, how do i prepare the sand ? i know it needs to be washed but is it just a case of rinsing it, draining it, and just putting it in the tank. or does it need to be left in water for a period of time or something like that ?? im sorry if i sound kind of dumb but i just dont want anything to go wrong lol

I use just regular old play sand in my tanks and all I do is wash it really well before putting it in. If yours is actual aquarium sand, I'd say just rinsing it until the water runs clear would be enough.
