Hey, I am using nice white sand in my tank and I was wondering if i could use an underground filter with that?
Also my Emperor Bio-Wheel Filter 400 seems to bt broken, it has worked fine in the past, but receantly when i plugged it in, it wont strat filling up, it humms very quietly. Usually after i do water changes and plug it back in it makes loud noise when it try to refill and then once it starts sucking the water up its fine, but it does nothing wron, if you have any ideas let me know please.

Thx Dan

Sometimes you have to take your filter apart and clean the intake tube etc for it to stay working like always...

As for sand with a ugf...I'm going to say NO! I think trying to use sand with it would defeat the purpose of being able to move water through the substrate to filter it...because sand is too fine for the water to move through...and most UGF's have holes that are too big in them for anything except gravel.
