I keep reading about sand getting pockets of "bad" gas etc in it if you dont sift thru it or if you dont have types of fish that will do this...

I recently noticed that there are spots in my sand bed that are greyish or silver in color, could these be those aformentioned pockets of gas? if not anyone know what it is?

Thanks
Kevin

Reason most people (myself included) are vague about it is because the most important part is that it is "bad stuff" that can be avoided by mixing your sand regularly. I believe its anaerobic bacteria (bad bacteria) where pockets of air get trapped and there are things decaying under there.

If you do a search on here there have been a few people who explained it really well and posted it...I haven't looked but I can try later if you dont find it.
