hi..
i was away from home for three days and when i returned home, i saw my 'dominant' auratus hiding among vallisinaria plants.. some part of it's tail was missing.. I dont think other fish have the guts to do that.. not sure though.. by morning, it's tail disappeared.. i suspect that it's some kind of fungus.. abt ten days ago, i'd put a jewel cichlid into that tank and the aurtaus nearly killed it by nipping it's fins.. later i moved the jewel to another tank but it's half nipped tail completely disappeared in two days.. and it died.. now i'm scared my auratus will die too.. will mythelene blue help? i seperated the auratus and put it in a bucket and added some salt .. Please help me save my auratus..

Vikram..

It sounds more like bacterial fin rot, especially considering the speed with which it is moving.

Pics of it here: http://www.fishpalace.org/Disease.html#Finrot

Keep the water clean, and try a broad-spectrum antibiotic.
