Yesterday, I went to a new (to me) LFS recommended by Bruckm, and came home with 3 new loaches for my 75 gallon planted community tank.
I got 2 Yo-Yo Loaches (Botia almorhae). The first one is the bigger of the pair at perhaps 2 1/2 inches in length:
The second Yo-Yo is noticeably smaller (about 2 inches - see the fleeting Rummy-Nose Tetra for size comparison) and probably younger. Notice the less defined "o" markings:
I also got a Tiger Botia (Botia helodes). I didn't know anything about this species previously, and the guy at the store didn't know much more:
After a little checking at loaches.com (thanks, Lotus), I found out that they have somewhat of a reputation for being aggressive. So far, I have noticed some "assertiveness" when it comes to feeding time, but nothing more. Only time will tell for sure.
