Do Cory's all need to be the same species to school? I have a mix of 4 Bronze cories and one peppered cory. Two of the bronzes and the peppered cory are new as of last night. I also bought an albino last night but it didn't make it :(. He died sometime today. Is this an ok mix or should I get a couple more peppered so everyone has someone to school with?

Nope! My Peppered Cory schools with my little pygmies (who are 1/4 his size!), it's adorable, and they're so well bonded now I'm really reluctant to break the quartet up.

I have been told they're happiest with their own species but you wouldn't know it looking into my tank.

I think the size matters a little more than species, based on my experiences. I had 2 big schwartzis, 2 big peppereds, and 3 little peppereds, and the bigs and littles each made their own little schools.

Thanks! Yah, I notice the size schooling a lot. Two of my bronzes are three years old and big, and they sort of lead the pack with each other...the other 'lil ones tag along.

I know what you mean! Their behavior is so fun to watch in larger groups. I think I might get a few more peppered anyways. Maybe ultimately have a school of 10 or so (including the bronzes). The peppered have more personality, it seems like. :)
