Schooling fish

what good schooling fish for my 55g tank with a temp that can be either 70-80F and ph is higher than 7.4 but lower than 8.0?

I think harlequin rasbora would look nicemaybe about 6 of them
Neons would be okay in that ph my firned has neons in a tnak with a ph of 7.6, any tetras probbly except ones thta are sensative to ph!

I have decided to get either barbs or dainos. What is the best fish of them? can i mix the differnt kind together? For example a tiger barb and a green tiger barb.

Yep! No problems mixing tiger and greens! I prefer the barbs myself!

Oh yes I love tiger babs if I were you I'd get a couple green tiger, regular tiger, and albino tiger barbs would look nice.

Get about 12 cardinal tetras. They look nice in a large school.

Just to set the record straight.... tiger barbs, green barbs and gold or albino barbs. are all the same species of fish, just different colors.

I like the idea of rummy nose tetras. as that is my plan for my next school

high ph?

Cardinal tetras? in that high ph? according to my lfs they are very difficult to keep alive, he said they lose them all the time at the store.
I have high ph in my tank and have been trying to lower it. The platies and guppies (a cory too) seem to have done well despite it, and have even adjusted to the elevated ammonia level.

rainbow fish - praecox look real good, will stand that pH better than the tetras, much less fragile. They're more expensive than tetras but much hardier

All of the cardinal tetras on the market are wild caught. That is why they are so delicate. I've had them in my water of ph 7.4 with no problems. However, only after some time of acclimating them, do they become quite hardy.

For shoaling fish, you can't beat bloodfin tetras. They are the tightest shoaling fish I know of, and will adapt to just about any water conditions - very hardy.

I recently saw Congo tetras in in real life for the first time. I tell you they are the most impressive schooling fish I've seen.

I just bought a new 55g and plan to have them as my schooling fish.
